At Music with Nona Lisa, we believe that every child deserves to be loved like a grandma loves her grandbabies! They also deserve access to high-quality music education, regardless of their schooling situation.

About Nona Lisa

Nona Lisa has over 35 years of experience, teaching music classes, drama, voice and Bible study to children age 3 to 18, as an elementary public school music specialist in both Connecticut and Florida. She resigned in 1999 when pregnant with her second child and made the decision with her husband to homeschool their children. She decided to return to school when her youngest was in eighth grade, but opted for a private Christian school, where she taught for seven years.

Now she is the proud grandma to triplets and spends every available moment with them!!!
Nona Lisa (which means grandma in Italian😉) decided to return to her roots, teaching homeschool children! The years that she was home with her own, were some of her most favorite memories!
Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in K-12 music education from The Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, CT.

Services

Twice Weekly Music Classes

Classes are purposely twice a week so a concept can be introduced and then built on for better retention.

Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st grade music classes will involve the use of fun manipulatives, such as finger puppets, hand puppets, felt boards, scarves, parachutes, simple classroom instruments to teach steady beat/rhythm, music focused books, circle games, and lots of singing!

2nd grade will do a lot of dancing, moving, singing, playing games, and acting out songs!!!

3rd grade students will learn to play recorders!!! But first, they will learn to read the musical staff through creative learning techniques and games!

Preschool Age Summer Camps

This summer, Nona Lisa will hold a 1 week summer camp for Preschool age children (4-5 years) called the Days of Creation!
Each day, she will explore a day of God's creation as told in the bible, through music, creative movement, arts and crafts, storytelling, and even themed snacks!!

COST: $100
(includes daily snack)
Once registered, snack list ingredients will be sent out to verify students have no allergies to ingredients.

Class Schedules, Locations, and Pricing

Registration is $25 to hold your spot. This is nonrefundable.

Choose which set of days work best for you!!! If you miss one of your class days, you may make it up on the other set of days and alternate location, at the appropriate class time for your child's age.

Music with Nona Lisa is registered with Step Up, under PEP, as a homeschool provider in order that parents may use their scholarships for her fun and engaging music classes that will rival any public or private school music curriculum!

All classes will run for two 19 week sessions. It is encouraged that you register for both sessions because a full year of music curriculum will span both semesters, just like in a traditional school!

Pricing: $50/ week paid by quarter, two payments of $475, for total of $950 per semester.

Preschool classes may be paid monthly in advance.
