Welcome to Music with Nona Lisa

At Music with Nona Lisa, we believe that every child deserves to be loved and taught like a grandma loves and teaches her grandbabies!

About Nona Lisa

Nona Lisa (Lisa Westcott) has over 35 years of experience, teaching music classes, drama, voice, and bible study to children ages 3 to 18, as an elementary and upper grades music specialist in both Connecticut and Florida. She resigned in 1999 when pregnant with her second child and made the decision with her husband to homeschool their children. During the time she was homeschooling, she served as the Regional Director of a performing arts discipleship company.  She decided to return to school when their youngest was in eighth grade, but opted for a private Christian school, where she taught for seven years.

In 2022, she became a proud grandma to triplets and spends every available moment with them!!!
Nona Lisa (which means grandma in Italian😉) decided to return to her roots, teaching homeschool children! The years that she was home teaching her own children, are some of her most favorite memories!
Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in K-12 music education from The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT.

Introduction to Recorder Class

Do you have an 8-10 year-old homeschooled child who is expressing an interest in playing an instrument? I will be starting a recorder class in my home studio for 8 to 9-year-olds; beginning Wednesday, August 26 from 3-3:45 PM!!! Recorders are an excellent “first “ instrument and has a high rate of success which will make a transition to a “real” wind instrument much easier!

There will be a cap of five( 5) students in class as it will take place at my home studio. This would be a 45 minute time slot and each student would be $35 Per week and you would just reserve a 30 minute lesson time under My business name in EMA:) If you are using self pay, payment can be made via Cashapp or cash the day of class.

When you sign your child up for this semester class (Aug 26-December 2) I will provide their recorder which they will be able to take home to practice with in between lessons!

“What sets Nona Lisa apart is not just her musical talent, but the way she connects with students. She is fun, loving, and full of energy, and always goes above and beyond to create a positive and inclusive environment for every child."  H. Guthrie

"Nona Lisa consistently brought an extraordinary level of energy, creativity, and professionalism to her music classes. Each     time she entered our classroom, she immediately captured the attention of every child with her warm presence and engaging teaching style. Her lessons were not only educational but also deeply enjoyable for the children, who eagerly looked forward to her weekly visits.

She demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt her instruction to the developmental level of the students, incorporating songs, movement, and rhythm in ways that supported both their musical growth and overall cognitive development. Her classroom management skills were exceptional, and she always maintained a respectful and joyful learning environment.

As an assistant teacher, I had the opportunity to closely observe her interactions with the children. Her patience, enthusiasm, and genuine care for each student made a lasting impression on me. It is clear that she is passionate about her work and truly gifted in connecting with young learners through music."  A. Acosta

"Lisa has an amazing gift for really hearing where a singer is at, and then gently guiding them to stretch beyond what they thought they could do, while still staying true to their own voice. My daughters confidence and range have grown so much under her coaching, and it’s all because she meets you exactly where you are and helps your child bloom from there. I couldn’t recommend her more highly!!" R. Rose

My daughter Mallory, has seen so much improvement since she began working with Ms Lisa. Her voice is stronger and louder than it has ever been!  Thank you Nona Lisa for your dedication to my budding vocalist! ❤️

‘Momma Lisa’ earns that title every day when she’s teaching. As a former student, I had the blessing of being taught and led by her. I’m 30 now, an Actor and Singer, and I still use warm-ups and singing techniques that she taught me when I was 17. I was privileged to be a part of musicals where I got to witness Lisa lovingly direct groups of 30+ children at a time - myself included! She always provided an atmosphere of trust, comfort, and excitement! If you’re looking for a ‘Momma’ away from mom, a seasoned, trusted teacher, and a reliable pillar of a community, you’ll be blessed by choosing her. A. Rosario
